Small enough to look and feel like a voice recorder, the JVC Everio X is a new kind of design for a camcorder. At about ½ pound, the Everio X has no handhold or grips allowing you to hold and use the camera the way you need to, whether it’s from above, below or getting straight-on shots.
Standout Features:
The Everio X is the first camcorder to have a 10.3 MP CMOS sensor included in an HD camcorder. That means, along with recording video, it can take 9 MP stills. But the sensor is also the source of the 1080i recording format for video. Giving you HD quality and stunning color in every image you record.
The cool thing about the Everio X is that it can catch action shots too. It can shoot continuous still shots at up to 60 images per second or can even record in ultra-slow motion video. Using this feature, the camera can capture dynamic movement that is not visible to the naked eye. Shoot at 120 fps, 300 fps or 600 fps to catch images not available to the naked eye.
This camcorder is just plain cool. It’s new technology and ability to record photos and video in stunning detail is phenomenal. This is a product that will likely be in high demand for some time.
At $1,000 our first instinct is that this is way overpriced. Sure it’s cool and has new cutting-edge features, but pound for pound we think $1,000 is a little much to charge for a camcorder.
Not only did the Everio X put on a pretty good show at PMA, it has a couple features that just add to its overall trendiness. With one touch exporting, you can upload video to YouTube or even iTunes. Plus its small and discreet size gives it an overall elegance that will be difficult to match from other camcorders.
